Tuli Bulungi!

Last Sunday was a low-key day.

We went out for lunch and some great iced coffee.

We bypassed the restaurant next door, whose slogan was "Food that makes you go 'hmmmm.'"  Somehow not that tempting.

At the supermarket, we we able to locate some Glucose biscuits.  We were fed these while rafting, and are both terrified and intrigued by the name and the awkward looking child on the package.  (Got this picture in right before the lights went out in the store - one of the weirder power outage experiences so far).

And then, outside the store, I proceeded to almost literally run into someone I knew from New York - a fellow Americorps alum - thus proving that the world is, in fact, very small.

That night, we went to see the Ndere cultural show, which included music and dancing from around Uganda, as well as some odd humor from the MC, who was wearing what looked like a cow-print pimp hat.  The dancing was incredible.

On Monday, we had a language lesson in the morning - a crash course in Luganda.
Tuli bulungi means, 'we're fine'.

In the afternoon, we visited the Uganda museum, which contains everything from a Model T Ford to what I think was supposed to be the preserved remains of some minor god's testicles.

And after dinner, we returned to our hotel to pack for our trip to Kalisizo -  our home for the rest of the summer!
